Did this at the beginning of the month, but then I got all sidetracked by the new caricature job, and apparently forgot to even scan it! Oops. 0_o Again, Drat belongs to Matt Lazycat. I enjoy drawing him. ^____^

Commissioned by Painted Dog for a friend of hers. I'm not totally sure I got all the details right (I know I forgot the earrings D=), but hopefully it's pretty close. Either way, I do really like how it turned out. I usually have a hard time making reds and fire-colors look decent, but this time it worked fairly well. Inked with a brushpen, and probably one of my best results with those. If anyone is interested, I did also scan the inks.

Another sketch for Matt Lazycat of his feline dragon, Drat. I think I really nailed the personality this time. I'm not 100% convinced the wing-design-patterning is right, but it's getting there. Still really happy with how this one came out. =3

Looks like whatever is in that satchel isn't supposed to get wet. Sketch commission from AC, with the theme of 'something magic.' I was a bit at a loss of what to do, at first. It was raining outside, and I thought that while umbrellas are useful, it's a pain to have to carry one around when it's not actually raining. You never seem to have one when you need it. Wouldn't it be useful to be able to just... conjure one? Hope Ace likes this!

The initial drawing of the figure was done at AC08, but I knew I wanted to give it just a bit more attention than I could at the con itself. I know I'm very pleased with the result! (Edit- decided to rescan it in two parts and comp together.)

Acrylic Green by chlorophyta

First serious experiment with acrylic. Trying to overcome the hurdles that have kept me from using it as a medium in my work. Many struggles. The values hurt. Don't know how to lighten the background without making it chalky. Even used zinc white to try to keep it from being overpowering. Did manage to get them presentable. Difficulty with the paint. Perhaps I just need to find the right brushes, or maybe the right combination of what kinds of mediums. I used some glazing liquid with more success than water, but it makes the paint transparent. Great for glazing, I'm sure, but for colors that are supposed to be more opaque, it's difficult to control that opacity. How do I keep my brushes from getting so plasticy feeling, the paint from drying too fast to use? I definitely want to start painting on a regular basis. Working in a tiny sketchbook to remind myself that what I'm doing are studies- meant for learning, not as an end in itself.

A pic I've owed for a while to Wolf Nymph, her character as a bat. ArtRage went all weird on me near the end, I'd accidentally rotated it a bit and couldn't figure out how to straighten it back out, and the brush wouldn't work quite right afterward. Anyway, I managed it. XD It was weird morphing her markings into such a different shape.

Kit commissioned this piece for her boy Spike's birthday (today!). The original's rather bigger than my normal buttons- I printed it at different sizes and turned the design into large buttons, small buttons, and stickers! Very fun!
